Clean and Maintain your Resin Outdoor Furniture

How to Keep Your Resin Outdoor Furniture Looking Its Best

The number one way to keep your resin outdoor furniture looking its best is quite simple—clean and maintain your resin outdoor furniture regularly.

When it comes to outdoor furniture, resin wicker is a wonderful choice. It has a timeless look of beauty and sophistication, and it’s naturally more resistant to moisture and weathering than other outdoor furniture like rattan. But because all outdoor furniture is routinely subjected to harsh weather conditions such as direct sunlight, wind, and rain, it’s important to clean and maintain your resin outdoor furniture on a regular basis to keep it from falling into disrepair. Use the following steps as a guideline to help keep your outdoor resin furniture looking fresh and new for years to come.

Step 1:

Clean any loose debris or dirt from your outdoor furniture and cushions with a vacuum or soft-bristle brush. Remove the cushions from your outdoor furniture.

Step 2:

To clean your outdoor furniture cushions, mix 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent or dish soap with 2 cups of warm water. Dip a sponge in this solution and use the sponge to wipe your cushions clean. At Club Furniture, all of our outdoor cushion covers are made from nylon fabric or Sunbrella, so they are very easy to clean. After cleaning the cushions, hang them up to dry.

Step 3:

To clean the resin wicker furniture itself, saturate your furniture with a garden hose or several buckets of clean, warm water. Our resin wicker furniture is completely waterproof, so there’s no need to worry about water damage. After you’ve saturated the furniture, mix ¼ cup of laundry detergent or dish soap with 1 gallon of warm water. Dip a soft-bristle brush into the solution and gently scrub the resin wicker. Be sure your brush penetrates all the nooks and crannies between the resin weaves. If your resin wicker furniture has tree sap or mildew stains, use Goo-Gone or a similar product to treat the tree sap, and use Tilex or a comparable mildew remover for the mildew stains. However, be sure to rinse these cleaners away as soon as you’re finished using them. Harsh cleaning agents such as these can fade your resin wicker furniture. After you’ve finished cleaning your furniture, wash away the soapy residue with a garden hose or buckets of water. Allow at least 2 hours drying time before putting the cushions back in place.

Step 4:

After everything is dry, place your cushions on your resin wicker furniture, then kick back and relax in your sparkling clean, good as new resin outdoor furniture.
